This tutorial outlines the process of how i link build from my own private blog network. If you have been following my blog, I have been creating 25 niche sites and setup 20 new expired domains from my PBN about a month ago. This post shows you how i link build from the 20 expired domains to the 25 micro niche sites. If you read and follow all the steps outline below and start link campaign from your PBN, I am certain that your money sites will starting ranking in Google in no time. Ranking in google using PBN still works as long as you do your keyword research correctly.
Link building niche sites
Link building is the final stage for creating niche sites. It is where I build links to my niche sites to boost the ranking of the keywords in Google. I use my own expired domains to build links to my Micro niche sites. For example if one of my Niche site is about “Computers”, we will have to find an expired domains about Computers to build link to this niche site. The more relevant the topic of the websites, the more powerful the links will be. Typically I build 20 links to each MNS. If a niche site needs futher boosting, I will build links up to 50 links maximum. I only build 2 links to a MNS perday.
Understanding Anchor Texts
Before we start building any links, it is very important we understand the concept of anchor text in link building. Overusing an anchor text with same keyword will cause a Google penalty.
So what’s an anchor text?
Anchor text is just simply the keyword text that we used in our links. For example, our main keyword for a niche site is “coyote hunting”. Then our exact match anchor text for the hyperlink is “coyote hunting.” It is same theory to internal linking strategy, except this time we are linking from an external domain.
Anchor text variations
We need a lot of anchor text variations for our links. If we are building links for domain coyotehunting.org and the Main keyword is “coyote hunting”. There are 6 types of Anchor texts variations and the % of usage we need to know of.
10% – Exact Match – “coyote hunting”
20% – Partial Match – “coyote hunting tips”
10% – URL Match – “http://www.coyotehunting.org”
10% – Brand Match – Coyote Hunting Guide (if your site is coyotehuntingguide.org). Note that if your site is an exact match like coyotehunting.org, then brand match will just the URL.
20% – Related keyword match – “prairie dog hunting” or “fox calls”
30% – No match – “click here”, “read more”, “visit this website”, “more info”, “more details”, “buy now”
Here is another excellent example from Nichepursuits : if our domain is dogtrainingtips.com and our Main focus keyword is “dog training tips”
10% – Exact Match – “dog training tips”
20% – Partial Match – “best dog training”
10% – URL Match – http://www.dogtrainingtips.com
10% – Brand Match – Bills Dog Training Tips (if your site is billsdogtrainingtips.com). Note that if your site is dogtrainingtips.com, then “Dog training tips” is both an exact match AND a brand match.
20% – Related keyword match – “puppy potty training” or “housebreaking a puppy”
30% – No match – “click here”, “read more”, “get a free gift here”, “check out this super sweet website”, “free puppies”, “dog adoptions”, “sign up today”, “you get the idea!”
The percentage of use is just a general guideline. Don’t stick to this religiously! Also, expect this to change as Google changes their algorithm! These percentages just emphasize that you should not be using exact match anchor text most of the time, and you need to diversify.
How many links can we built to an article?
It is okay to put 6 links into an article as long as they are sprinkled in, and not dumped in one place. You can sprinkle them in author bios, within content (when relevant), within images (anchors are alt text in this case, usually URL based like “Image courtesy of URL”), and within falsified yet well thought out comments on the page from guests (anchor is name of guest). Lets take a look at the example of built links from the expired domains article:
Examples of links in Author bios:
Author bio are added at the end of the articles. An author bio may contains URL links, partial match, Exact match, no match links etc…..
Here are some more expired domains so you can see exactly links are build. (please note these are not my expired domains from my network, I just found them to be an excellent example to show how a expired domain to be setup)
Lets take a look at the backlinks of a Micro Niche Site in Open Site Explorer. This is just to show you an example of anchor text variation percentage.
Now that we understand the concept and % of uses of anchor texts, we can then start building links to our Micro Niche Sites. Before we start building links, we want to check that Google has already indexed all our pages on MNS. You can easily check this by typing the command “site:nichesite.com ” into the google search field.
To help keeping track of things like link building starts and ends, I have a spreadsheet that called “MNS progress report”. Whenever I start a link build i will noted down the date, and whenever it is finished i will noted down the date as well.
You can download an example of my spreadsheet here: MNS progress report
I only start building links when Google have indexed all of the pages of the MNS. The spread sheet also keep tracked of the date that Google has already indexed all pages for my MNS.
If Google haven’t indexed the MNS that we are intending to link build, we skip it and move on to the next MNS. We can always come back later to link build the un-indexed MNS a few days later.
The following link building example will be based on the 25 niche sites case study one that i created a month ago.
Lets start link building on one of our MNS: Coyotehunting.org as an example. We go to our MNS progress report and check that google has already indexed our site,
We also fill in the date that we start link building, ie: 4th November. (link build start)
We then go to our Expired domain list Nichesitestudy-PBN list. Open the expired domain excel file.
There are many columns on the list, we want to specifically look at the DOMAIN and Category Column. Domain column gives you the expired domain available for posting articles.
The category column will tell you what is the expired domain’s topic about. They maybe a domain about News, eduction, health, Computer, games, travel, Etc…..
Since we are creating links for coyotehunting.org, we are looking for potential expired domains that are related to our Niche, coyote hunting. We may search for expired domains that are closely related to hunting games, weapons, outdoor activities, personal blog or anything that is relevant to our MNS if we have a huge PBN network. Sometimes we may not find any expired domains topic that is related to our MNS. In this case study example, we only have 20 expired domains to link built from. We can only build links from these 20 expired domains because this example network is small. In saying that I am confident that a network of 2o expired domains will sufficient for a link campaign. However it is best practise to choose any domains that is closely related, this is why I personally have around 200 expired domains network available. I always link build in groups of 15-25 related sites. By that I meant choose a batch of 15-25 domains that are more or less related, or are relatable by a common element. The article will be a news-style article that is related in topic.
Before we start link build we need to plan out our anchor texts % percentage for coyotehunting.org. Remember from guide above, our % are
10% – Exact Match , 20% – Partial Match , 10% – URL , 10% – Brand Match , 20% – Related keyword match , 30% – No match
So if we are going to build 20 links, an example anchor text variation will be:
2 Exact Match Links – coyote hunting
4 partial Match Links – how to hunt coyote, trapping coyotes, coyote attacks, coyote nature environments
2 URL links – http://www.coyotehunting.org
2 Brand Match Links – http://www.coyotehunting.org
4 Related keyword match Links – hunting equipment, turkey hunting, bear hunting games, coon hunting supplies
6 No Match links – click here, game calls, prairie dog hunting, hunting, free hunting games, hunting rifles
We use an excel file called Anchors text to track the Anchor text and expired domains used. It shows how to link and where to each site. No matter how many sites you are linking to or from, try to keep exact match anchors under 10% of the total anchors, and URL/brand anchors around 20%, with the rest being taken up by at least 10 phrase match anchors and some generic anchors (click here, names,etc).
You can see an example of our anchor text file here: [sociallocker id=”1051″]Anchors text[/sociallocker]
The file sheets shows a list of 25 MNS sites and 20 columns of anchor texts. This example also assumes that each site will be linkbuilt from 20 different expired domains. EMD is exact match keyword, PM is partial match, Brand is it’s not an EMD, but rather coyotehuntinghq.org, then the anchor would be Coyote Hunting HQ. If it is an EMD then this would just use the URL.
Once a link has been inserted into an article, it gets added on this list and never re-used. So each article would have 6 link from each 6 different expired domains. Meaning 1 MNS website will recieve 20 links from 20 different expired domains.
CHOOSING EXPIRED DOMAINS FOR COYOTEHUNTING.ORG
Now we have our 20 expired domain sites ready. We can start compiled them into a list. Remember to it is best choose sites that are related to our niche as much as possible. Below is the expired domains list and the anchor text to go with it.
|No.||Expired Domains||Anchor Texts|
|2||southward.org.nz||prairie dog hunting|
|4||flocking.me||flextone game calls|
|5||fanatic.net.nz||how to hunt coyotes|
|9||esslli2002.it||free hunting games|
|16||voicesfromhome.org||bear hunting games
Start build links from expired domain’s articles
Lets link build from our 1st domain, northernpulse.co.uk. You would log into your wordpress backend as usual, create new post and add new articles related to coyotehunting.org.
In this instant, we are going to add a NEW article specifically about coyote hunting to build this link. Write a unique article about coyote hunting at northernpulse.co.uk and add as a new post. New article has to be unique and readable and copyscape passed. It is best to keep 1 article article less than 6 outbound links.
We hyper link our anchor text as usual using the edit/insert link button. Our first link will be EMD , exact match link, so our achor text’s Title will be “coyote hunting“. The URL will be http://www.coyotehunting.org
Click update when finish filling in the details. You can submit the article once you are happy with it. Now we have built our first Exact Match KW link, we can open up our Anchors text file and start putting details into the sheet.
We input our mns as http://www.coyotehunting.org on the Domain column. On the Exact match KW, we input “coyote hunting” and below that row, we input our expired domain which we link built from, which is northonpulse.co.uk
Next Expired Domain – Link Number 2
Now we moved on to our next expired domain ( southward.org.nz) and our next link achor text which is Partial Match KW1. (prairie dog hunting) . Log into admin panel of wordpress as usual, by default I already have existing unique article already post in the expired domains (this is how i setup my expired domains), you can simply edit the existing post instead of hiring someone to write a unique article. This saves you time and money. Sometimes we have a less relevant niche post, we try to build our link as relevant as possible. Say we are working on southward.org.nz domain, and the existing article is about War memorial museum, this has nothing to do with hunting or wild life hunting.
Lets make take a look at the article about War memorial museum with insertion of “prairie dog hunting” anchor text.
See the highlighted text with article content about Museum galleries exhibit photos and weird images of prairie dog hunting? Here we are having an article about museums and yet we can have dog hunting link inserted. You can blend your keywords into the article with related descriptions or content. This makes our anchor text read and flow more naturally. Don’t make your insertion of anchor text too intrusive.
In our insert link box, our URL will be our MNS domain url. and the title will be the partial match anchor text. We have now built 2 links for our MNS. We can now go to our anchor sheet again and input our details.
Under partial match KW 1 column, our anchor text is “prairie dog hunting ” and underneath the column the domain we built from is Southward.org.nz
We move on to our next column Partial Match KW2, Partial Match KW3, Partial Match KW4 and so forth. We repeat the steps above, adding links to each different expired domains. Once completed, we should have a row of anchor texts filled up like this.
Remember you can only built 2 links to a domain per day. So after building the 2nd link in Day One, you can come back and built the 3rd link on Day Two. So our link building for a MNS will be finished by Day Ten.
Day Total number of Links
Day one 2 links
Day two 4 links
Day three 6 links
Day four 8 links
Day five 10 links
Day six 12 links
Day seven 14 links
Day eight 16 links
Day nine 18 links
Day ten 20 links
Building Brand Match Links
Normally with Brand Match links, the anchor text will be the domain name + the brand. For example, http://www.workfromhomeideashq.com/ our anchors will be Work From Home Ideas HQ. Audiologistsalaryinfo.com will be Audiologist Salary Info. http://www.dogfactssite.com/ will be Dog Facts Site
What about Exact Match Domain? If our MNS domain is Coyotehunting.org and our Main Keyword is Coyote hunting? In this Case our anchor text will just be the URL. So Coyotehunting.org will be http://www.coyotehunting.org. Typesofconflict.org will be http://www.typesofconflict.org/.
For URL links, we can use the Author’s Bio method or we can also use simple sentences like ” for more info please refer to website: http://www.coyotehunting.org
When building a URL link remember to type the full URL. including the http:// and www. We input our hyper link box with the full URL. Both the URL and Title should contain the full URL as shown below:
Building Related Keywords links
Related keyword anchor text links will be the same as building partial match links technique. The anchor text will be scattered within the articles.
Sometimes it is also a good idea to add a few deep linking. By this we are not building links to the Root domain, http://www. coyotehunting.org. We deep link, linking to inner domain such as http://www.coyotehunting.org/coyote-hunting-tips/ We only need to do 1 or 2 deep linking for Each MNS. Do make sure the link does work and the url exists before you deep link.
Building No Match links
No match keyword anchor text links can be scattered within the articles, in the author bios, or any sentence that ask the users to read more relevant info about something.
Once you finished building all 20 links in day 10, you should have filled up all 20 anchor texts column in the spreadsheet. You then moved on to your next MNS for linking building following the exact same method.
Alternative Image links.
There is another alternative image links that is useful if we need more than 20 links. Sometimes if we need to built more links, say 25 links, we can can add image links with anchor text as our 21st link.
Click on the top left button on the image, an edit image box will pop up.
Fill in the Title and Alternative text with our anchor text. Link URL will be the MNS domain that we are linking to. Click update once we completed filling in the details.
Once we have built all of our links. Dont forget to open up our MNS progress report sheet again and fill in the link build end date. This makes a record that our link campaign of the niche site is now completed.
Congratulations! You have reached the end of a long post. Link building requires a lot patience and you will have success ranking on Google.
