So its that time of month where i am reviewing and documenting my last month earnings. Please bear with me, I have a feeling that last month report is NOT going to be attractive.
Last month i realised that my adsense does not report in USD currency. Adsense has upgraded their payment systems. This is based on geo located, for example if you are in the United kingdom, your report currency will be in pounds. I am based in New Zealand, so the curreny will be based on NZD.
Adsense Earnings in Sept 2013
Here is the look of my adsense earning in September:
Please note New Zealand Dollar is somewhat weaker than US Dollars. 1 USD = 1.1941 NZD. So this month adsense earning in USD is roughly around $1785 USD, a significant drop from last month earnings ($2109 USD).
Analytics report does not display the long tail keywords anymore. What the hell Google?! What’s the point of analytics if we can’t track our own long tail keywords? The “Not Provided” keyword is what we will find in our reports. This is extremely frustrating, as we don’t know where our traffic is coming from and where to further improve our websites. Normally i will find these long tails keywords and write more detailed articles on these topics. The alternative solution is this you can use Google’s adword Keyword planner to find related terms keywords or use other tracking software.

Text Link Sales:
This is just another experiment on selling links from my expired domains that has Page Rank. I put around 15 expired domains with page rank on text broker, backlinks.com. Overall I think selling text links are not very profitable in the current market. Google has not updated their page rank for many months now, it would be very hard to do this in mass because you would need many domains that has a Page rank. Be aware that selling text links is against Google terms of services. Only do this if you have domains that you don’t need or care anymore. I will not pursue this monetisation method further. I would rather make better use of the high PR domains for link building instead.

A trial with Selling sites in Flippa
I have also sold a site in Flippa in Sept, an experimental purpose to see what the market is like. The website is just a small website that i built back in March. It is getting some traffic and some earning from Adsense. The site sold for $385 USD but the listings fee cost me $99 and success fee of $19USD. An overall fee of $118USD! I’ve decided to setup my own “buy my sites” here in Niche Site study to avoid the massive fee.
Last month profit has dropped significantly partly because i have spent too much on website expenses such as article ordering, hiring many freelance writers thru odesk / elance. It is now too early to tell whether those expenses will improve rankings or earnings. The previous Google algorithm update has crushed 90% of my sites. I am rebuilding them by adding adding new contents and link built further from my PBN. I have seen some lights after rebuilding them. A new batch of expired domains will be built this month for link building to my next batch of Micro niche sites. Overall September is not a very good month.
What do you guys think? Do i need to cut my expenses on further building up small sites into authority websites? Or shall i just keep them as small niche sites? Leave me any questions or comments below, I will be happy to hear from you!
